Industry, University, and Administration established this council to create a new Academic City to become a key world player through the transfer of Kyushu
University to the Motooka, west area of Fukuoka City.
In June 2001, the Kyushu University Academic City Concept was organized, and the Organization for Promotion Academic City by Kyushu University, the main promotional body for the Academic City concept, was established in October 2004. At that time, work for the investigation, public relations, and other related areas for the plan achievenment was initiated.
